My journey in the food security arena. It began with a question to a food scientist, "A carrot is a carrot no matter how it is grown, right?" The look of incredulity on her face told me I needed an education. Now armed with adequate answers I want to share what I've learned. My first offering is this blog, to be quickly followed by a book of tasty recipes, geared to help my neighbours who live on frozen soil most of the year. May we thrive in these times!

Here I am (again) world
Don't believe what you see. Yes, I started this thing two years ago, but today, January 24, 2019 is the day I totally rewrote this post, because a lot has happened since then.
I guess the reason I have never kept up any of the blogs I started is because I wasn't writing anything worth reading. Will this time be different? We shall see. The focus has now been honed in on something I think people are ready to learn about; how to eat sustain-ably in an increasingly fragile environment.
I won't bore you with a lecture on how things are not the way they used to be, or why. You get enough of that already. You also get a lot of mixed messages on what to eat and how to cook it. This is where I think I can help.
I'm going to leave it here for now. Our bureaucratic leaders announced a big change yesterday. Look for my response to it shortly.
